Root on first boot, with your key already on it.

Full KVM virtualisation — your own kernel, your own stack, your own decisions. Not a container with a hostname and a list of things you are not allowed to do.

Root login by key on first boot. No emailed password, and no first-login ritual to change one.

Private networking

Attach machines to a private network and keep the traffic between them — and your database — off the public internet.

Snapshots included

Daily by default and kept fourteen days. Take one by hand before you do something brave.

IPv6 where the node has it

Where a location serves IPv6, your machine gets it as a matter of course rather than as a support request.

1 – 32

vCPU on the same platform, without moving anything

Resize within the range rather than rebuilding on a bigger plan elsewhere. The machine keeps its disk, its address and its identity.

Where the line is

A cloud server means you get the operating system. That is genuinely more freedom and genuinely more work, so it is worth being clear which parts land on you.

  • Yours: the OS and everything on it Packages, patches, firewall rules, your application, your runtime versions.
  • Ours: the host, the network and the storage The hypervisor, the hardware, the link and the disks it sits on.
  • Ours: the snapshots Taken daily and kept a fortnight, whether or not you remember them.
  • Watched either way Reachability, patch state and CVE exposure are reported from the moment the machine exists — so even a machine you manage is a machine you can see.

Frequently asked questions

Is this really KVM?

Yes — full hardware virtualisation with your own kernel. You can run containers, a different libc, or something unusual, because it is your machine rather than a namespace on ours.

Can I resize later?

Yes, within 1 to 32 vCPU, 512 MB to 256 GB of memory and 10 GB to 2 TB of disk. An order that names no size gets the plan's size; a size beyond the plan is refused rather than quietly billed.

Do I get a public IPv4 address?

Where the plan includes one, yes. If your plan does not, ask — it is an allowance rather than a hard limit of the platform.

What if I lock myself out?

You can rebuild from a snapshot. That is the fastest route back and it is why snapshots are on by default rather than something to opt into.
