A database you do not have to babysit.

Managed MariaDB and PostgreSQL, reachable over a private network rather than the open internet, with backups that are restored on a schedule instead of merely taken.

From £19 a month
MariaDB or PostgreSQL

Both are first-class. Pick per database rather than per account, so one project can use one and another the other.

Extensions already there

The PostgreSQL extensions most applications expect are installed by default, so the first migration does not fail on a missing one.

On a private network

Attach it to the same private network as your machines and keep it off the public internet entirely.

Connection limits you can see

The maximum connections per database is a published number, not something you discover under load.

restore drills replayed in the last 14 days

Snapshots are kept 14 days and taken daily by default. We restore them on a schedule and publish the count, because a backup nobody has restored is a hope rather than a backup.

What managed actually covers

Managed is a word that hides a lot. Here is the specific division, so you know what is yours.

  • We run the engine Installation, version, configuration, patching and the box underneath it.
  • We take and test the backups Daily snapshots, kept a fortnight, and restore drills that actually replay them.
  • You own the schema and the data Your tables, your queries, your migrations. We do not touch them.
  • You can always get it out Standard engines, standard dump tools. Nothing here is a format only we can read.

Frequently asked questions

Can I connect from outside your network?

You can, but the private network is the better answer when your application is also hosted here — it keeps the database off the public internet rather than relying on a firewall rule being right.

How many databases do I get?

The Managed Database plan is five databases across 25 GB. Hosting plans include their own database allowance on top of that.

Can I restore to a point in time?

You can restore from the daily snapshots, which are kept for fourteen days. If you need tighter than daily, tell us what you need and we will say plainly whether we can do it.

Which PostgreSQL extensions are installed?

The common set is there by default. If you need one that is not, ask — it is a question about that node, and we would rather answer it before you migrate than after.
