Every one of our nameservers answers for every zone. There is no single primary whose bad day turns into your website being unreachable.

The record types you actually need

A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, TXT, SRV, CAA, NS and PTR — each with its real fields, so an MX has a priority box and an SRV has weight and port rather than one text field you have to format by hand.

DNSSEC is a switch

Turn it on and the signing is handled. If your domain is registered with us the registrar side is done too, so there is nothing to copy between two control panels and get wrong.

IPv6 as standard

The nameservers answer over IPv6, and an AAAA record is as ordinary as an A record.

It will not quietly lose your edit

The classic DNS failure is an edit that appears to save and never reaches the servers that answer. That is guarded against here rather than hoped about.

A failed change is not reported as saved If a record cannot be pushed it stays marked pending and is retried, instead of showing a green tick and doing nothing.
Editing elsewhere still works Change something at your registrar instead and the two are reconciled rather than one silently overwriting the other.
Disagreements are visible When the panel and the nameservers differ, that shows up as drift you can look at — not resolved quietly behind your back.

Frequently asked questions

Is DNS included with hosting?

Yes, on every plan. If you only want DNS and nothing else, that is available on its own too — point your domain's nameservers at us and that is the whole arrangement.

Do I have to pick a region?

No, and you will not be asked to. DNS is served from everywhere rather than placed in one location, so the question does not come up.

How long do changes take?

The change reaches our nameservers straight away. What you actually wait for is the TTL on the old record expiring in other people's caches — so lower the TTL a day before a planned move.

Can I let my web developer edit DNS but nothing else?

Yes. Access is granted per thing, so someone can hold DNS without also getting your billing, your mailboxes or your files.

Will you help me move my DNS across?
