Register a domain with lbreeze

Search for a domain name, register it, and manage its renewal, nameservers and transfer code from your client area.

You can register domain names with lbreeze and manage them in your client area at app.lbreeze.com, next to your hosting and invoices. This article covers finding and registering a name, and the settings you will use afterwards.

Find and register a name

  1. Sign in to your client area and open Domains. The menu shows Domains once you own one; until then, go to app.lbreeze.com/domains. You can also search on the domains page at lbreeze.com and register from there.
  2. In Find a domain, type a full name such as mysite.io, or just a word to check the common endings (.com, .net, .org, .io, .dev and .co).
  3. Click Search. Each result shows a yearly price and an Add button, or Taken if someone already has it.
  4. Click Add, then View cart in the message that appears.
  5. Check out and pay the invoice.

The domain is registered for one year once your payment is received. It then appears under Your domains, with its expiry date.

Renewal

Auto-renew is on for a new domain. About 30 days before it expires, a renewal invoice is raised in your client area. When that invoice is paid, the domain is renewed at the registry. If you turn auto-renew off, no renewal invoice is raised and the domain expires on its date.

To change it, click Manage beside the domain, and on the Overview tab click Turn off or Turn on under Auto-renew. The same tab shows the registration and expiry dates and whether the transfer lock is on.

Use it with your lbreeze hosting

For your website and email to work on the domain, it should use lbreeze's nameservers:

  1. Click Manage beside the domain and open the Nameservers tab.
  2. Click Use our DNS.

If Use our DNS is greyed out, type the nameservers shown in your control panel (under DNS zones, on the domain's page) and click Save nameservers. Use registrar DNS switches back to the registrar's default nameservers. You then manage the domain's records in your control panel; see Edit your DNS records.

Move a domain to lbreeze

  1. At your current registrar, switch off the transfer lock and ask for the auth code (also called the EPP code).
  2. Go to lbreeze.com/domains/transfer, type the domain, and click Check transferability.
  3. Type the code in Auth code (EPP) and click Continue to checkout.
  4. Pay the invoice. An email may be sent to the domain's contact address asking you to approve the transfer.

Move a domain away from lbreeze

Click Manage beside the domain, open the Auth code tab and click Reveal, then Copy. Give the code to your new registrar.

Good to know: Treat the auth code like a password. Anyone who has it can start a transfer of your domain.
